The trend towards sustainability is growing. It started in the food industry, with consumers demanding transparency, organic and Fairtrade products and it is now beginning to show in fashion - one of the world’s largest and most resource intensive industries, responsible for 10% of the total carbon output on earth.

As we start to understand the implications of mass produced clothing and demand fair pay for the people who make our clothes, alternative materials such as organic cotton, hemp, modal and recycled fibers are coming to the fore.  More designers are rising to the challenge of creating beautiful and stylish garments to meet these expectations and the world of fashion is changing for the better.

Phemke doesn’t just sell a range of products, it tells a story of hope through a collection of natural and authentic clothing and accessories. Our clothes are made from sustainable fibers in workshops that are SA8000 certified to work under ethical conditions.
