Waking up to the sound of waves, spending the full day in bikini and enjoying a gentle sea breeze on a summer’s day: beach days are the best! Phemke has visited many beaches around the world, but only some of them have left unrivalled memories. Are you ready to book your ticket to paradise? These are the most beautiful beaches on earth!
1. PLAYA DE SES ILLETES Formentera, Balearic Islands, Spain
If you’re not familiar with Formentera, it’s time to change that. The people who do know this magical island, call it the hidden pearl of Spain. Do we need to say more? You won’t find mass tourism and traffic jams here, only crystal-clear water and dreamy houses. Playa de Ses Illetes is, without any doubt, the most amazing beach on the island with spectacular views of different small islands, including Ibiza. This island has earned the UNESCO World Heritage Site, because of the surroundings and the underwater Posidonia meadows. Un, dos, très... VAMOS!
2. MATIRA BEACH, Bora Bora, French Polynesia
If you have the privilege to visit Bora Bora, plan a day or two on Matira Beach. You will immediately understand why this gorgeous beach is listed in this blog. Even though Matira Beach is known as the largest, and therefore most popular public beach on the island, it definitely still earns a spot on your once in a lifetime bucket list destinations. Endless sunny days, silky sand and wavy palm trees right on the beach: enjoy walking barefoot on soft sea sand and the changing colours of the sky during mesmerizing sunsets. There’s really not even one tiny reason to not book your ticket…
3. WHITEHAVEN BEACH, Whitsunday Islands, Australia
With its 26.000 km long coastline, Australia has to offer us more than 10.500 beaches. This means you could visit a different beach every other day for years! If you’re planning to visit ‘down under’, make sure you’ll plan a boat-trip to Whitsunday Island. Why? Because of the fact that this beach is often chosen as Australia’s number one beach. And that’s quite something when you have to choose out of thousands of beaches. Whitehaven beach is one of the quieter beaches, where you can experience the true tranquillity of nature.
4. ANSE SOURCE D’ARGENT, La Digue, Seychelles
Even though La Digue is the least developed island of the Seychelles, the atmosphere is very relaxed and the beaches are incredibly beautiful. Anse Source d’Argent, a beach you’ll find in the southwest of the island, is so pretty, you won’t even believe it’s real. No surprise the movie Castaway is shot here, right? Of course, the sand is as white as snow and the water as clear as crystal, but what it is that makes this beach even more special? If you ask us: the impressive granite rocks and the bushy pathway leading to this beach. And, when you’re lucky, you’ll meet some friendly turtles while snorkelling!

5. IHURU ISLAND, Maldives
One of the most photographed islands of the Maldives is Ihuru: a perfect round island surrounded by clear blue water, owned by the Angsana Ihuru resort. Due to the fact that it’s a private island, it’s extra special to stay in one of the 45 exclusive villas of the resort. If you have ever dreamed of celebrating life on an uninhabited island, you definitely won’t regret a getaway on this wonderful piece of heaven on earth.
